Long time no see...

So, lets see... There has been almost one and a half year since my last entry in this blog. Time obviously flies even when you are not looking :)

Music wise this has been an interesting period in my life. Music has for many years been one of the main things in my life. But sometimes it is important to contemplate the core things in your life and see if they still have a value to you. And that always leads to interesting conclusions about things that you basically take for granted. For me, it has been the question of if music still has a function in my life or not. And if so, what shape does it have from this point and onwards. The answer to these questions seem to be yes and many shapes.

The many shapes thing is interesting. I have realized that I need to vary myself from time to time. I can't really make the same kind of music all over and over again. Therefore I have decided to go wherever shiny things that interest me are. So that might mean that the output of my work will take a little bit different shape from release to release. Now that does not mean that I will start to write bubblegum pop music or Japanese heavy metal. No, but there might be some more ambient releases as well as more melodic releases. And maybe some more electronic stuff as well. The road of music is wide, and there is no point to put limits on your creativity.

The first releases of a little bit more ambient music are Lost In Thoughts and Dreamlets which I released in the beginning of this year. These pieces have been floating around on my hard drive for quite some time and I just felt that I should release them. Just because I like them.

Another album that is upcoming is BB. It also has been floating around for a while and is almost ready for release as I write this.

There are also a few older more electronic albums of mine that I still enjoy listening to. So at some point they will probably see the light of day again.

And then of course there is more new music being worked on as well :)

Ok, that might be enough of writing for tonight :)

Re-releases released

My two previous New Age albums are now available as pay-what-you-want/free download on my bandcamp site. Listen and Download here.

The albums are available in different formats, normally mp3 320kbps should work fine. FLAC or WAV is a good option if you are planning to make a CD.

December

Well, the autumn has passed faster than I expected it to. Colourful autumn
leaves have disappeared and more and more snowflakes have been dancing
outside my window.

For me, it has been a busy autumn in a lot of ways. But I have also started
to look at some new ideas for a possible future album as well.
Whenever I find some ideas that feel good and interesting, and when I get
that "Ohhh, shiny..." feeling about it, it is probably time to start up the studio :)
Hopefully there will be a little bit of studio time coming up during the next
few weeks :)

Autumn

It has been a while since I last posted something here on the blog.
The summer is long gone, and the autumn has arrived here in Sweden.

Instead I have been spending time doing other things...
For example, it is always a good time to do some housekeeping in the studio
between projects. So new instruments has been bought and installed :)
Yay... Lucky me :)

I have also had the time to watch a few documentaries. So earlier this week I
got the chance to watch "A life in waves", a documentary about Suzanne Ciani.
Good stuff :)

Well, maybe that is enough for now...

Forever is a long, long time...

Note to myself:
Write shorter songs.
Long songs take forever to mix...

More Retro Space Jumper

Finally, the trailer for Retro Space Jumper has been finished!
The trailer features the final in-game music loop at the maximum BPM :)

The first in-game music I wrote was a slow ambient song. I thought this was a
good idea since the song had a quite nice sense of floating around in space. But
my friend who made the game wanted a song that followed the tempo that comes
with the increased speed in the game. So I started over from scratch and made a
few tempo tracks with only drums. Once the tempo track was done, I started to
write the music. I had never written a song before that goes from 45 BPM to 150
BPM in just over a minute...
Anyway, I decided to start the song nice and slow, and then add different
elements with time. I also thought it would be nice if the song actually ends up
being a nice melodic track once we hit the 150 BPM mark. I wanted it to have
this really nice I-want-to-hear-it-once-again feeling.
In the end I think it turned out really nice :)

Check out the trailer for the music, and please download the game here if you
want to play it :)
